Question by senneb: What are the pros and cons of clinical hypnosis?
I’m looking into it, by suggestion from my therapist. But I have doubts. I know it doesn’t seem like the same as regular hypnosis – but anyone with first hand experience – is it unpleasant?

How important is it to “know” or have talked a great deal with the therapist who’s doing the hypnosis?

To me, clinical hypnosis provides an indirect channel into a free discussion and release of emotions, especially ones which have been consciously suppressed or unconsciously repressed.

But, I am personally convinced that therapy which is administered while the client is in his most conscious state is the better option.
